GOOD STUFF IN SYDNEY

GOOD STUFF IN SYDNEY

November and December 2015

Sydney opera house bar + walk around harbour

You cannot get a better location than this! G&T's only £5!

Rooftop bar with harbour view: The Glenmore Hotel

Good food too! Located in The Rocks.

Surfing/posing at Bondi beach

World famous Bondi beach is a great place to hang out. There's brilliant weekend markets, surf schools galore, great waves if you're more experienced, lots of great food and lovely murals covering the entire length of the beach wall.

Swimming at Icebergs Bondi

It's a public swimming baths, it's about £3.50 to swim there, it's salt water and the view is incredible. Plus once you're done you can go upstairs to the cafe for a coffee or glass of wine.

Seeing our trekking buddy Bhrett for the THIRD time this trip!!

Seeing the fabulous Zoe Peel, a fellow Bromsgrovian who is also a long way from home

Susannah Place Museum

A really interesting museum in 'The Rocks' area that showcases four terraced houses that were built by Irish immigrants in 1844 and are (just about) still standing. They have furnished the rooms to show different eras, based on memories of people that lived there! You can't take photos inside but I took a few sneaky ones. You can buy a ticket that gives you access to three other museums which lasts for three months so I plan to give those a go when I get time.

Museum of Contemporary Art

Amazing location right by the harbour. There were some cool exhibits and I also noticed that a new exhibition of Grayson Perry's work was due to open pretty soon. I made a mental note to go and see that.

Mrs Macquarie's Point walk

A gorgeous walk to the point just east of the main harbour area, that gives an amazing view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House together. You walk through the botanical gardens and there's a beautiful public swimming pool that looks across at the big war ships.

Walk across the harbour bridge +

North Sydney Olympic Pool

Brilliant walk across the bridge, you can go up one of the towers for an even better view for a small price. (Better value than the bridge climb but still want to do that!) and then a dip in the amazing pool the other side of the harbour

Outdoor cinema

These are really great to go to in the Sydney summer. There are loads on, we are really excited about the St. Georges one we've booked for January that's overlooking the harbour. We went to the Ben and Jerry's one twice in the end and they did a Saturday special where you got free ice cream all night!!!

The Rocks Village Bizarre

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, there was a weekly event with tonnes of entertainment, craft markets and food. Here you can see a two storey blow up man being pushed along by little blow up people...

Climate Change March

Important stuff. I dragged Will along for this one.

Coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte

Lovely coastal scenery and has a sculpture show at certain times of the year. See Arriving in Sydney blog post for pics.
